Thank you to everyone that came and made our first Sandbox event a success! We had a great response and will be continuing the series monthly with the next event on Tue 10/8, 7pm. And we're taking submissions for scripts to be read in October! Email your script to [email protected] for consideration. Scripts must be no more than 10 pages, and can be short films or excerpts from longer works. Six scripts will be selected for reading.Hosted by PJ Sosko (actor, director, writer), Circle Cinema Sandbox is free and open to the public and will be a collaborative community and networking evening for writers & actors here in Tulsa.
Each month, the Sandbox event will be an opportunity for writers to hear their scripts come to life by listening to the actors make instinctual decisions in a cold reading setting. The event begins at 7pm with actors arriving to be cast in the scripts for the evening, introduced to the writers , and a quick chance to read over the material , within the first thirty minutes. Staged readings begin at 7:30pm in the lobby, free and open to the public for great insight into the creative process of collaboration. The Circle Bar will be open through the evening to enjoy a drink with the exciting new screenplays and constructive feedback after the readings.
Guests are welcome to join at 7pm to join the actor pool for potential casting, or come at 7:30pm as the readings begin.
Meet the host: Throughout a two-decade career, PJ Sosko has worn many hats – and he loves friggin’ hats. He has thrived as a TV, film, stage & voiceover artist and has had the honor to collaborate with artists like David Strathairn, Anne Dowd, John Magaro, and Austin Pendleton, while also voicing national campaigns, tv promos and award winning video games. From portraying MacMurphy in "Cuckoos Nest" under the watchful eyes of Ken Kesey’s Wife, family, and members of the merry pranksters... to bringing life to Hunter S. Thompson for MAX’s "The Girls on the Bus..." He has brought his epic storytelling to many stages and screens across the country to glowing reviews, while also nurturing, developing, and championing new work with NY companies like Naked Angels, EST, New Dramatists, Primary Stages, and the New Group. Recently, Circle guests saw PJ at the Circle Cinema Film Festival in three short films - "Stuck in Muskogee" which he directed and starred in, and as an actor in the audience-favorites "Just the Janitor" and "Flint."
