Cinematic Drift : The Cloud in Her Room

Electric Blue are thrilled to present A Cloud in Her Room (2020), from contemporary Chinese director Zheng Lu XinYuan. A tale of melacholy, yearning and generational dissocation, XinYuan's film provides an inward gaze into the psyche of young woman, Muzi, navigating bittersweet romance and reckoning with her role in modern Chinese society as a daughter, woman and friend. An enveloping slow-burn of a film, this screening will be preceded by a series of experimental shorts questioning liminality, frank female autonomy and the avant-garde filmmaker's diary of impressions + space, with an introduction from our resident programmers.
