About this Event

As part of Glasgow Doors Open Day Festival, join us for this special screening exploring the intersections between beekeeping, agriculture and environmentalism around the world.

Glasgow’s Latin American Research Network (GLARN) will be presenting Cuban Bees, a short film that takes viewers on a journey to Havana to hear from beekeepers and farmers about Cuba’s unique beekeeping practices. Cuban Bees will be followed by a Q&A with director Dani Acosta and Emma Shannon, who conducted research at the University of Glasgow on Cuban apiculture.

The evening will finish with the feature length, award winning documentary Honeyland, which follows Europe’s last wild beekeeper as she struggles to preserve ancient beekeeping practices in the face of commercial farming in North Macedonia.
