About this Event
Based on actual events, UN DÍA NORMAL is an award-winning narrative short film made in Southwest Detroit. In the fall of 2017, immigrant Esmeralda Monzón and her family face financial struggles while facing possible cancellation of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. Unable to work pending her DACA and work permit renewal, Esmeralda feels powerless and burdensome to her family. When she faces the threat of deportation, Esmeralda has to somehow prove her valid DACA status without revealing that her mother is undocumented.
