Luciano is a wandering outcast in a remote, late 19th-century Italian village. His life becomes undone by alcohol, forbidden love, and a bitter conflict with the prince of the region over the right of passage through an ancient gateway. When the quarrel escalates, Luciano is exiled to the distant Argentine province of Tierra del Fuego where, with the help of ruthless gold-diggers, he searches for a mythical treasure, paving his way toward redemption. However, in these barren lands, only greed and insanity can prevail.
The world premiere of "Tale of King Crab" took place as part of the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs at Cannes Film Festival 2021.

Nach dem Film: Q&A mit dem Hauptdarsteller GABRIELE SILLI
In der Mitte des Films endet die Geschichte von Luciano, dem Trunkenbold, der in Tuscia zur Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts den Fürsten und die Liebe herausfordert. So erzählen es jedenfalls die weintrinkenden Protagonisten aus der Jetztzeit in RE GRANCHIO. Gern lassen sich Rigo de Righi und Zoppis von den Geschichten vor Ort leiten, doch nicht umsonst haben die gelernten Dokumentarfilmer die Form gewechselt: Sie kontern die Fabulierlust der Alten und lassen die Geschichte von Luciano noch einmal ansetzen. Diesmal am „Arsch der Welt“ und endlich mit der Königskrabbe in tragender Rolle. „Es fängt mit zehn Worten an, dann werden aber 15 und 50 Worte weitergetragen, und am Ende stimmt die Geschichte nicht so ganz“, sagt einer der Protagonisten. Rigo de Righi und Zoppis geben Worte und betörend schöne Bilder weiter.
Die Weltpremiere fand im Rahmen der Quinzaine des Réalisateurs bei Cannes Film Festival 2021 statt.

Dopo la prima edizione completa del 2019, un'edizione online durante il primo lockdown del 2020 e l'edizione all'aperto nel 2021.... Eccoci dinuovo!

Tardo Ottocento, Luciano è un ubriacone che vive in un borgo della Tuscia. Il suo stile di vita e la sua ribellione al dispotico principe locale lo hanno reso un reietto per il resto della comunità. In un estremo tentativo per proteggere dal principe la donna che ama, Luciano commette un atto scellerato che lo costringe a fuggire in esilio nella Terra del Fuoco. Qui, la ricerca di un mitico tesoro, al fianco di marinai senza scrupoli, si trasforma per lui in un’occasione di redenzione. Ma la febbre dell’oro non può seminare che tradimento, avidità e follia in quelle terre desolate.
