💥 Join us for the CinEast 2024 Awards Ceremony & Closing film! 💥🏆 During the ceremony members of the Juries will announce the awards of the 17th edition (Grand Prix, Special Jury Prize, Critics' Prize, Young Talents Award and Audience Awards).
The Ceremony will be followed by the screening of the festival's Closing Film. 🎬
CLOSING FILM: "Crossing" by Levan Akin
🎥 Before her sister died, Lia, a retired history teacher, promised to find her long-lost niece Tekla, whom her family had disowned after her coming-out as trans. The few clues to her current whereabouts point to Turkey. Lia travels from Batumi to Istanbul, accompanied by the young cabbie, Achi, her former student, who is always hungry. Together, they throw themselves into an impossible search for Tekla in the maze of the city's winding streets, close-knit neighborhoods, and its diverse, distinctive residents, who are their only chance.
Filled with an immersive abundance of metropolitan detail and an enchanting sense of melancholy and hope, this is a beautifully shot and well-acted social melodrama about a desire for openness and crossing boundaries.
The film premiered at the Panorama sidebar of this year’s Berlinale, winning the Teddy Jury Award.
