JAM Cine Club presents... PERMANENT RECORDPermanent Record is a recent video work by Bert Ackley, a Saigon based video artist and archivist. The works is the culmination of two and a half years of archiving and was the central focus of his four-month residency at A. Farm (Ho Chi Minh City).
The video is a collection of found Vietnamese media and explores the themes of time, memory, nostalgia, history, and love while maintaining an undercurrent of charm and whimsy. It is propelled by the concept that the organization of information can deliver new meaning to things - in this case, the past.
