The CIM Edmonton Branch is excited to host Innovation and Research Night on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at the University of Alberta Donadeo Innovation Centre for Engineering.
This signature event is designed to connect academia and industry, bringing together students and professionals to explore the technologies and research shaping the future of critical resources. The evening will feature:
- Dinner and networking
- A student research poster competition
- A display of rare and unusual rocks and minerals
- A featured presentation by Warren Black, Senior Consultant at APEX Geosciences Ltd., on advances in data science, database management, resource modelling, and geostatistics—and how these innovations are transforming the way we discover and extract critical minerals.
Student posters will span a wide range of industry-relevant topics, including ore systems, machine learning, equipment monitoring, hydrotransport lines, workplace safety, water contamination, oil sands technologies, carbon removal, and more.
