Call for Posters:

The NGN Committee of CIGRE UK National Committee are delighted to invite NGN members to showcase their work in a poster session at the CIGRE UK NGN AGM on Accelerate the transition to net zero.

  • Poster presentation instructions:
  • Topics for the poster session need to align with one of the 16 CIGRE Study Committees.
  • You can use a standard poster template.
  • You are required to print and bring your poster with you on the day.
  • The poster board size is portrait A0.
  • The poster should clearly display the title of your paper, the author's name, and their affiliations.

Posters will be scored on technical content, relevance to the selected Study committee, originality, technical quality and presentation of the material (structure, figures, etc.).

Lastly, the final shortlisted candidates will get a direct ticket to take part in the Young Member Showcase Competition 2024.Successful candidates from YM Showcase competition will have the chance to receive free conference tickets to the CIGRE Centennial Paris Session 2024 and a bursary for transport and accommodation.

Presentation Title: “Modelling of HVDC connections and grids with high penetration of renewables: recent developments and future trends”.

Synopsis:This presentation will provide an overview of some of the studies typically performed by an HVDC manufacturer to analyse the interactions between the HVDC and the interconnected AC Grid, particularly for weak grids like renewable energy systems.Some of the current modelling challenges will be presented, alongside an overview of areas of future development.Bio: Since 2013, she has been with GE Grid Solutions,HVDC Centre of Excellence in Stafford (UK), where she currently works as Team Leader for the System Studies Team. Her main areas of interest include: harmonic analysis of power systems and power electronic converters, power quality, AC network studies, dynamic studies of HVDC schemes, circuit design and control design for HVDC systems, active filtering,RTDS modelling and simulation.


Melike ayaz

Presentation Title: "Accelerating the Transition to a Zero Carbon Electricity System: An Action Plan for Streamlining Connection Applications"

Synopsis: This presentation will provide an overview of the growing challenges with the surging connection applications of renewable energy technologies into the electricity network. Bio: It will give insights of ESO's five-point plan for connection reform, and how the storage technologies can support the operability needs of the system. Currently, she serves as a Power System Engineer for NG ESO in the Connection Operability Assessment team, where she is engaged in innovation projects related to modeling storage in the connection process and Construction Planning Assumptions. Her primary area of interest lies in the integration of Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) in distribution networks.
