Join us to dive deep into the CI principles to discover, revisit, clarify or expand your CI practice and your dance.
In this training, we focus on Contact Improvisation (CI) as an open physical dialogue and a framework for observing how the relationship with the floor, the physical forces, touch, weight and the body’s systems co-create the dance.
Our aim is to share the fundamentals, principles and tools that foster access, connection and ease in the body and in the dialogue with other bodies, as well as to develop curiosity and interest in the learning process.
Integrating the CI principles will help you stay grounded in the present moment and to learn from and about your body in solo, duet and group situations.
This training is addressed to all levels of experience. Beginners will find the basic principles upon which to develop their dance. Those with experience in CI will also benefit, as gaining new perspectives is essential for expanding one’s dance practice.
We invite you to explore CI within a more regular group, whilst leaving the door open to take part in single workshops.

Bios
Daniela Schwartz (RA/FR)
Transdisciplinary visual artist, co-organiser of contactfestival freiburg and member the dance company dégadézo in Strasbourg. Active for the last three decades in the practice, performance and teaching of Contact Improvisation, Composition & Improvisation, internationally.
“I’m interested in CI as an ecosomatic practice, as a multidirectional movement that provokes the encounter. I consider CI as material for research, thought and creation. My main interests are the complexity of the interrelational physical dialogues and the virtuosity of attention and imagination anchored in the physical experience”.
Eckhard Müller (DE/FR)
Performer and teacher for Contact & Improvisation, co-founder of the contactfestival freiburg and the dance company dégadézo in Strasbourg. He also specializes in contemporary movement techniques on the floor, acrobatics and yoga.

"When I came into contact with CI at the end of the 80s, it was like a "magnesium effect" for me that radically changed my life. I switched from being a social pedagogue to the world of dance with a focus on CI and improvisation. In my classes, I awaken a playful approach to our body in movement and the physical forces associated with it. In general, I am interested in freedom, lightness and flow in a playful improvisation with others and the group."
