Learn how Winston Churchill's seven-decade relationship with Jewish people helped to define his remarkable career.
About this Event

Winston Churchill was an icon of the 20th century. From his election to Parliament in 1900 to his retirement as Prime Minister in 1955, he towered over the world stage, influencing almost every significant issue of his time.

The arc of Churchill’s career intersects with the most significant events in the history of the Jewish people: Zionism and the Balfour Declaration, the rise of Adolf Hitler and the catastrophe of the Holocaust, followed by the creation of the State of Israel and the lasting divisions that affect the world today.  In the course of his life, Churchill interacted frequently with Jewish communities in Britain, the United States and the Middle East and his connections with Jewish luminaries ranged from Chaim Weizmann and David Ben-Gurion to Lord Nathaniel Rothschild, Bernard Baruch and Albert Einstein.

Join historian Lee Pollock as he explores how Churchill’s relationship with Jewish people helped to define his remarkable life and career and how his decisions impacted their fate.

Lee Pollock is an award-winning historian, writer and public speaker on the life of Winston Churchill. He has written for the Wall Street Journal, the New Criterion, and other publications and he has appeared on CBS, the BBC and numerous media outlets in the U.S. and Britain.  Lee has spoken about Churchill at venues ranging from the U.S. Congress, the Pentagon and the Supreme Court to leading universities, museums, and non-profit institutions across the country.

He is a Director and Senior Advisor to the Board of The International Churchill Society and previously served as its Executive Director. Lee is a Fellow of the National Churchill Museum and a recipient of the Churchill Society’s prestigious Chartwell Award.

He is editor of "Winston S. Churchill on Public Speaking" and the author of "Action This Day: Adventures with Winston Churchill."
