CHURCH WALK - THE CONFLUENCE OF FAITHSMonday, December 26th, 2022

Kolkata undoubtedly has been the place where people of various faiths from around the world has come and stayed back, thereby leaving a legacy behind. Today marks the end of 8 days traditional festival of the Jews - Hannukah.
What is Hannukah? By 164 BCE, the Jews revolt against the Seleucid monarchy was successful. The Temple at Jerusalem was liberated and rededicated. The festival of 'Hannukah' was instituted to celebrate this event. Judah ordered the Temple to be cleansed, a new altar to be built in place of the polluted one and new holy vessels to be made. The Hannukah festival is observed by lighting 8 candles of a candelabrum with nine branches, called Menorah (or Hannukah).
Join us in this walk to be amazed at the various heritages and confluence of cultures very rarely found in other cities of the world! This is a curated guided walking trip, brought to you by Kolkata Explorers (a division of Green Step Tourism).
Starting place: Old Mission Church entrance gate
Places of Interest: Jewish Synagogues, Armenian Church, Portugese Church, St. Andrews Church & Old Mission Church.
