About this Event
CHÚPAME EL DEDO + ROMPERAYO SOUND SYSTEM
with DJ Strange Bouquets Doors @ 8pm.
Get ready for a wild night of Colombian rhythms, psychedelic experimentation, heavy percussion, and pure dance-floor energy with Chúpame El Dedo and Romperayo Sound System, joined by DJ Strange Bouquets.
Chúpame El Dedo is the explosive collaborative project of Eblis Álvarez of Meridian Brothers and Pedro Ojeda of Frente Cumbiero and Romperayo. Drawing from Bogotá’s fiercely inventive underground music scene, the project pushes Colombian tropical music into strange and exhilarating territory, colliding cumbia, punk, metal, electronic music, distorted vocals, and Caribbean rhythms. It is irreverent, theatrical, noisy, and deeply rooted in the rhythmic language of Colombia—a live experience that can move from controlled chaos to an irresistible tropical groove in seconds.
Romperayo Sound System, led by drummer and producer Pedro Ojeda, takes another route through Colombia’s musical landscape. Inspired by cumbia, porro, champeta, psychedelic tropical music, and the sounds of Colombia’s Caribbean coast, Romperayo reimagines those traditions through percussion, electronics, samples, bass, and experimentation. The Sound System format distills that universe into a powerful, dance-oriented performance: hypnotic rhythms, psychedelic textures, and deep Colombian grooves designed for the dance floor.
Opening and carrying the night between worlds is DJ Strange Bouquets, the DJ project of Rory Morison, founder of Bad Vibes Good Friends. His sets connect vintage and contemporary sounds from Colombia and across Latin America—cumbia, salsa, psychedelic tropical music, Afro-Caribbean rhythms, experimental electronics, and unexpected selections that reflect the same boundary-crossing spirit behind the night.
Together, Chúpame El Dedo, Romperayo Sound System, and DJ Strange Bouquets represent three different approaches to the living, evolving universe of Colombian tropical music: rooted in tradition but completely unafraid to distort it, electrify it, and push it somewhere new.
Come ready to dance. Pure rhythm, experimentation, cumbia, and Colombian sabor.
