CHUCK BRODSKY is a storyteller, a songwriter, a troubadour, a modern day bard. His wit and irony, down-to-earth warmth, and quirky, rootsy, finely crafted songs, tell stories of oddball and underdog characters. His songs celebrate the goodness in people, the eccentric, the holy, the profound, the courageous, the inspiring, the beautiful. They poke fun at what needs poking, and sometimes challenge what needs to be challenged. They’re sworn to tell the truth.
Over the past 30+ years Chuck has performed at festivals and in concerts all across the USA, Canada, Ireland, Denmark, England, Israel, Lithuania, Latvia, Wales, and the Shetland Islands of Scotland. He’s performed three times at the National Baseball Hall of Fame, and 22 of his Baseball story songs have been enshrined in the Hall of Fame’s sound recording library. “Moe Berg: The Song” is featured in the PBS film “Jews and Baseball: An American Love Story” (2010).
Another favorite topic Brodsky likes to explore is his Jewish heritage. His musically inclined great-great grandfather inspired Old Song Handed Down in which his grandson, Brodsky, asks him about life as a musician in a Russian peasant village in the late 1800’s. The song Lilly’s Braids was written after a visit to Yad Vashem in Jerusalem. Another of his compositions, Gerta, is a song about a doll donated by a Holocaust survivor who instructed it to “tell the world what we saw”. Brodsky has recorded a number of songs about the Holocaust and plans to release an entire album of songs with Holocaust themes.
Chuck has many CDs for sale via his website at chuckbrodsky.com as well as info about his Ireland and Scotland tours and live shows. He can also be found on Facebook and YouTube.
