Kathy’s Cottage – 918 Washington St. The modest house at 916 Washington St. was built around 1840 as a two room home with one simply appointed bedroom. It has since had many renovations, and a few additions over the years as it has been lived in by several families and served as a business location during some of its history. With prior uses ranging from a family home, rental property, and even a dog grooming business, the home has now been lovingly restored by its current owners John & Kathy Richmond. Come step back in history and see how an 1840s caretaker’s cottage can be made comfortable and functional for today’s world.
The Murphy Trading House - 607 Williams Ave. Built in 1776 by the Buard family, the Murphy Trading House, located in Natchitoches along Williams Avenue, is believed to be the oldest standing building in Natchitoches and the second oldest residence west of the Mississippi River. The walls of the home are made from cypress timbers and bousillage. A private residence, the interior of the home is furnished modestly in keeping with the historical period.
