Christmas Free Motion Class at Abakhan Shrewsbury

There is nothing quite like the freedom of sewing with free-motion techniques. Even if you have never tried it before, come along and experience the joy of creating your own unique piece of textile art.

Whether you're making a special Christmas gift or something just for yourself, free-motion sewing gives you the opportunity to express your creativity using your sewing machine.

Have a go at making your own Christmas cards for that personal touch, or create a small Christmas-themed wall hanging to decorate your home or give as a handmade gift.

During the workshop, you will learn:

• How to set up your sewing machine for free-motion sewing
• Which free-motion foot to use
• How to control the movement of your fabric with confidence
• Tips and techniques for creating beautiful stitched designs

By the end of the session, you'll have the skills and confidence to produce a truly unique festive piece of work.

No previous free-motion experience is needed—just bring your enthusiasm and be ready to have fun!

What to bring:

• Blank Cards if you want to place your pieces into Christmas cards
• Small pieces of Christmas fabric
• Embroidery ring if you want to place your piece in a frame
• 20 cm Calico

Janome sewing machines will be provided on the day along with a hot drink. You will also receive a 10% discount card to use in-store.

I have been involved with sewing and dressmaking for all of my working life and nothing gives me greater pleasure than passing on my knowledge to people who want to learn to sew. I enjoy sewing, dressmaking, all types of craft and especially machine embroidery.

I have been working at the abakhan store in Shrewsbury since it opened its doors in 2018.
