Christmas Cookie Decorating Class at Cup of Joe

Interested in learning more about decorating sugar cookies? Sue's Goodies is here to help! You may have seen my sugar cookies at Cup of Joe in Cedar Falls: come learn how you can make beautiful sugar cookies in your own kitchen. In this 1.5 hour class, you'll learn sugar cookie basics, you'll get recipes for Royal Icing and sugar cookies, and we'll practice some cool techniques for decorating them. Questions? This class is for beginners or for those who want to learn new techniques or practice decorating with others. If you want a fun date, a girls-night-out or just want to explore cookie decorating on your own, there's a seat for you! We'll be decorating five different Christmas cookies that taste great and will look even better once you've decorated them!

The class is an hour and a half long, and that will give us enough time to decorate the cookies and answer your questions.

You'll get a set of pre-baked cookies, icing, detailed directions for different decorating techniques, the tools you need for decorating, and a box to take your creations home--all you need to bring is you!

This class is on Monday, November 14, 7:00-8:30 pm. Come by yourself, bring a friend, or bring the family--there will be seating for 15 people. It will be fun whether you're coming with a friend, family member, or solo!

The class is great for ages 12+, but if you have younger kiddos at home who might enjoy decorating sugar cookies, purchase an add-on kit to take home! These kits are great for some at-home fun, and you'll have the decorating directions to teach them how to decorate, too.

The class will be at Cup of Joe, 102 Main Street, Cedar Falls. Your ticket includes your favorite Cup of Joe beverage to enjoy while you decorate!

If you want to keep practicing or teach someone else how to decorate sugar cookies, order a sugar cookie class kit or two to take home with you. Our class kits come with everything you'll use in class.

Sugar Cookie Kits are created before your class and you'll pick them up and take them with you after class.

How long can a kit last? Depending on how you store your icing, your kits can last for a week or longer.

Freezing cookies will keep them fresh for a long time, but we recommend using your kit as soon as possible - ideally in the first week after you've taken it home.

What will I be doing during class?

Besides having lots of fun and good conversation? We'll be going over some basics about sugar cookies, practice using royal icing, and learning some fun decorating techniques. You'll be decorating a set of cookies you'll be bringing home with you.

What if I want to bring some undecorated cookies home with me?

Please purchase an additional class kit when you check-out! Your kit will be available at the end of class so make sure not to forget it.

Do I need to know how to bake?

Nope! You'll get cookies in your cookie kit, and recipes to take home with you to make your own.

What am I going to learn in class?

You'll learn what goes into preparing royal icing, when to use different icing consistencies, how to color your icing, how to get the icing in the piping bag (harder than it looks...). You'll also learn some different decorating techniques, like outlining and different wet on wet techniques to make beautiful designs on your cookies.

What will I bring home?

By the end of the class, you will have created a set of gorgeous cookies ready to dry for 24-48 hours in their own box. And of course, you’ll have new skills, memories, and fun!

What do I need to bring?

Nothing! Everything you'll need will be provided, including tasty sugar cookies! All you need to do is come ready to learn and to have fun. If you're a messy decorator, you might want to bring an apron or wear easy to wash clothing.

Can I sign up as an individual or as a group?

You can sign up either as an individual, with a friend, or with a whole group. There is room for 15 folks, so definitely sign up ASAP! Each individual attending needs to have a ticket.

Can just my child take the class?

We ask that you attend classes with your kids. For children over 12, you can drop them off to take the class and return to pick them up 1.5 hours later. There isn't room for parents to watch their children in class, so you'll also need to purchase a ticket to take the class. I think you'll have fun learning how to decorate, too!

I signed up for a class, but can't make it. What should I do?

Life happens, so that's why you can cancel up to 7 days before the class. You can always transfer your spot to a friend (what a nice person you are!). Any cancellation after the 7 days will be a class credit redeemable for up to 1 year from the credit issue date.

Allergens: Eggs, gluten, and nuts are present in the kitchen used to bake these cookies and icing. Please consider your allergies before registering.

Eventbrite Fees: Your ticket price includes your Eventbrite fees; however, Eventbrite does not refund fees. If you cancel your ticket for a refund, we'll give you a refund less the Eventbrite fee - since we don't get this back either. Eventbrite keeps it regardless if you show up or cancel. :( *sad face*
