For the first time in Washington, Ukrainian singer Valeriia Vovk and acclaimed pianist Fima Chupakhin present a heartfelt Christmas program featuring Ukrainian carols, winter-themed originals, and beloved American classics.From the oldest known Ukrainian carol “Oi Yak Zhe Bulo” to “Carol of the Bells” and modern holiday favorites, this intimate acoustic evening blends tradition with jazz-inspired warmth. Valeriia Vovk is a Ukrainian singer, songwriter, and producer, and a graduate of Berklee College of Music. Her performances and videos have garnered millions of views on social media, captivating audiences with her distinctive fusion of contemporary sound and Ukrainian heritage. In 2025, she became an ambassador of TYKHO and MRIYA and continued her cultural and humanitarian mission by leading charity tours across the U.S. in support of the organizations, which by now have raised more than $50,000 for Ukraine.
Fima Chupakhin is a New York–based Ukrainian jazz pianist, composer, and producer. A Fulbright Scholar and student of Mulgrew Miller, he has performed at major U.S. jazz festivals and NYC venues. He has composed acclaimed film scores, collaborated on spoken-word projects, released the debut album Water (2019), and recently the trio album Hymn For The Fallen (2025). Chupakhin, who came to the U.S. on a Fulbright scholarship, has collaborated with writer Serhyi Zhadan and is active in the New York jazz scene.
