About this Event
We’re so looking forward to welcoming everyone to this year’s Christmas Carol Service, in aid of The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity and Child Bereavement UK.
Now in its ninth year, the service has become a much-loved evening of music, reflection and familiar faces, and will once again take place at All Saints Church, Fulham, on Tuesday 16 December at 7.30pm.
For those of you who haven’t been with us over the years, the evening is one of celebration but its beginnings were shaped by a diagnosis and a wish to raise money for some incredible charities.
In 2017, Harriet, then 27, was diagnosed with a grade 4 brain tumour. She faced years of treatment and surgeries with extraordinary courage before passing away in 2021, four and a half years after her diagnosis. Harriet had an extroadinary strength which was an inspiration to everyone who knew her and she was the driving force behind our fundraising.
Throughout Harriet’s illness, The Royal Marsden played an extraordinary role. Their care, compassion and expertise made an unbearable situation more bearable, and their work continues to bring hope to families facing the hardest of journeys.
This is the second year we’ve supported The Royal Marsden and it feels incredibly meaningful to do so. Their dedication to improving cancer diagnosis, treatment and patient care has touched our lives and the lives of many of our friends and we’re proud to help them continue their vital work.
This year we also wanted to remember our dear friend Ed Pettifer, who was tragically killed in the New Orleans terror attack earlier this year, by supporting Child Bereavement UK in his memory.
Ed had one of the biggest hearts of anyone we knew. He was fiercely loyal, endlessly kind and always there for the people he loved, often before you even realised you needed it. He had a rare gift for making life lighter, funnier and for showing up with love in every way that mattered, whether you were a close friend or someone he’d only just met.
In his honour, we’re supporting a commissioned project with Child Bereavement UK, helping people in our generation the find support, understanding and hope through grief. The project will reach into universities, workplaces and communities, offering spaces to talk, connect and feel less alone when life suddenly changes.
In helping others find light in the darkest moments, this project carries a little of what Ed gave to everyone: love, laughter and his instinct to show up when it mattered most.
We hope as many of you as possible can join us this year for what is always a very special evening.
