The Ojai Playhouse and The Ojai Performing Arts Theater join forces to benefit HELP of OJAI with a concert on Tuesday, December 17 at 7 pm, offering some of the best entertainment in the Valley.By partnering with the newly renovated Ojai Playhouse, ready to offer movies again, OPAT dreamed up a show titled “Christmas at the Movies,” a delightful holiday stocking filled with some of your favorite carols plus contemporary songs from your favorite Christmas movies, treasured by young and old. Songs chosen from “White Christmas,” “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas,” “The Polar Express,” Spirited,” and more. Leading the cast will be two Broadway veterans and Ojai favorites, Douglas Ladnier and Laura Dekkers, plus very special guest appearances. Douglas and Laura were last seen in Ojai as the Prince and Cinderella in OPATs recent hit, “Into the Woods.”
“This will be the show of the season,” Joan Kemper said, “and we’re so happy to be one of the first to christen a live concert at the Ojai Playhouse.”
HELP of Ojai’s Co-Executive Director Jayn Walter feels this will go a long way in reaching the nonprofit’s holiday goals. “This benefit is incredibly important for us,” Jayn said. “Not only does it raise vital funds, but it’s also a wonderful way to bring holiday cheer to our community... to celebrate the season and support our neighbors in need. The funds raised will allow us to provide Christmas meals for our low-income neighbors, making sure they have a warm, nourishing holiday meal.”
