Christmas at the Lake is the only free event in the Waikato that attracts more than 10,000 people, making it one of the region's most spectacular community celebrations.
Bring your family and friends along for an unforgettable day filled with entertainment, culture, food, fun, and Christmas magic!
🎅 A Special Visit from Santa Claus
Get ready for a truly magical moment as Santa Claus makes a surprise appearance with three bags overflowing with lollies! Watch hundreds of excited children rush to catch the treats and enjoy the chance to take photos with Santa himself.
🎨 FREE Face Painting
Children can enjoy free face painting, transforming into their favourite characters, animals, or festive creations.
🎶 Live Bands & Sing-Along Hits
Enjoy fantastic live entertainment with two live bands performing popular songs throughout the event. Sing along to your favourite tunes, dance with your friends and family, and soak up the festive atmosphere.
💃 Spectacular Multicultural Dance Performances
There is no other event in the Waikato, and perhaps even New Zealand, that brings together such a diverse range of cultural performances on one stage.
Enjoy spectacular performances from around ten ethnic and contemporary dance groups, many with over twenty performers, including:
Samoan
Cook Islands
Tongan
Japanese
Chinese
Irish
Vietnamese
Indian
Korean
Modern New Zealand dance groups
...and possibly even more!
The vibrant costumes, stunning choreography, and rich cultural traditions will take you on a journey around the world without leaving the Waikato. These performances showcase the diversity, harmony, and inclusiveness of our community. Feel free to meet the performers and take photographs with them before or after their performances.

Enjoy every performance from our enormous stage, complemented by a large LED screen so everyone can have a great view, even from the back of the crowd.
🌏 International Food Stalls
Treat your taste buds to flavours from around the world with 15 food stalls serving a delicious variety of international cuisine.
🎡 Amusement Rides & Family Fun
There will be exciting amusement rides and family activities to entertain children and adults throughout the day.
🎆 Spectacular Fireworks Finale
As the sun sets, the evening will conclude with a breathtaking fireworks display, lighting up the night sky and providing a magical ending to a wonderful celebration.
