Uitnodiging Christine Mooijer’s eerste solo expositie ‘Expand Horizon’

Vanaf vrijdag 3 april presenteert Atelier K84 ‘Expand Horizon’, de eerste solo expositie van fotografe Christine Mooijer. In deze expositie smelt de realistische Hollandse nuchterheid, gevormd door haar (katholieke) opvoeding in Volendam, samen met de dramatiek en grootsheid van Hollywood. Kom langs bij de feestelijke opening op 3 april vanaf 17:00 uur, met een gastspreker (TBA) en een optreden van zangeres Lucy Fabienne!

‘Expand Horizon’ gaat over het verleggen van grenzen buiten wat van ons verwacht wordt, en de emoties die daar bij loskomen. Sinds 2019 komt de fotografe regelmatig in Los Angeles, een plek die voor haar symbool staat voor persoonlijke groei, een sterk contrast tegenover het kleine dorpse leven. Desondanks neemt ze altijd iets van haar dorpse ‘roots’ mee, en deze mix staat centraal in deze expositie.

Haar beelden belichten momenten van stille reflectie, waarin de vrouwelijke personages worstelen met hun soms tegenstrijdige emoties. Hierin wordt de donkere wolk niet geschuwd, maar is er ook ruimte voor het doorbrekende licht. Het resulteert in fotografie dat zowel eenzaamheid als hoop ademt. Komt dat zien op elke vrijdag & zaterdag (12u-18u) t/m 16 mei!

Invitation to Christine Mooijer’s first solo exhibition ‘Expand Horizon’

Starting Friday April 3rd, Atelier K84 presents ‘Expand Horizon’, the first solo exhibition by photographer Christine Mooijer. This exhibition shows a combination of her realistic Dutch roots, shaped by her (catholic) upbringing in Volendam, and the drama and grandeur of Hollywood. Come celebrate at the opening party on April 3rd starting at 5PM, with a guest speaker introducing the work (TBA) and singer-songwriter Lucy Fabienne performing!

‘Expand Horizon’ touches upon pushing the boundaries thrust upon us and the emotions you go through in the process. Since 2019, the photographer regularly visits Los Angeles, a place that symbolizes personal growth for her, strongly contrasting the small town life she knows. Nevertheless, she always takes her hometown roots with her, and this mixture takes a central stage in this exhibition.

Her photography highlights moments of introspection, where the female characters grapple with their sometimes conflicting emotions. The dark cloud isn’t shied away from, but there’s also room for the light breaking through. The result is a body of work that breathes both loneliness and hope. Come visit on Fridays & Saturdays (12-6PM) until May 16th!
