I Can Only Imagine 2 follows MercyMe frontman Bart Millard as he struggles to balance musical fame with his family life, specifically his tense relationship with his son, Sam, who battles Type 1 diabetes. While on tour, they build a friendship with opening act Tim Timmons, an eccentric musician facing his own health struggles. Through Tim, Bart learns to navigate the tension between grief and gratitude, breaking the cycles of his own childhood trauma and ultimately inspiring the hit song "Even If."
