What is a sesquicentennial, you might ask? It is the 150th anniversary of a significant event.For Christ Episcopal Church, on the corner of Church and Jackson Streets in Blacksburg, that significant event was the ground-breaking and start of masonry construction on the church in April 1875. Since its completion, this sacred space has been used continually for worship, and hence is the oldest church building in Blacksburg still in use for its original purpose — the only such church in town with that amazing distinction! We invite you to join us in celebrating this milestone in our Church history.
SESQUICENTENNIAL CELEBRATION SUNDAY:
September 28, 2025
One service at 10:30 AM,
using the 1870s rite for Holy Communion.
Celebratory reception in the parish hall will follow.
