Chris Morrissey
Bassist, singer and songwriter Chris Morrissey has released seven full length records and toured extensively with many beloved artists including Mark Guiliana, Norah Jones, Margaret Glaspy, Trixie Whitley, Dave King, Chris Thile, Gretchen Parlato, Sara Bareilles, Boy George and others. His last three recordings have been released on New York’s GroundUP music (Snarky Puppy, Becca Stevens, David Crosby). The music relies on and is brought to life by his trusted and tight knit community of musicians in New York, specifically Bill Campbell, Marco Bolfelli, Charlotte Greve, Nora Stanley, Ryan Dugre, Chris Parker and John Davis.
Birthday Ass
"Birthday Ass is a rock sextet featuring Priya Carlberg; voice, Alex Quinn; trumpet, David Mirarchi; saxophone, Andres Abenante; guitar, Grace Ward; bass and Jonathan Starks; drums. The band creates unexpected and multifaceted rock songs. The method and mastery behind Birthday Ass are as astute (pun intended) as can be, but the music that results overflows with an infectious, unfiltered vitality. Their sophomore album Head of the Household is as flamboyant and celebratory of a romp as you’d expect from a band called Birthday Ass and is just as strong and assured as the title would suggest. It is an example of virtuosity that shuns pretension and revels in the delight of creativity, and a collection of exhilarating, masterfully crafted tunes expressed with effortless joy.” - Evan Welsch
Market
The reliably inventive songwriting project Market is a vessel for producer Nate Mendelsohn’s obsessive questions and answers, recollections of conversation and interior monologues. Well I Asked You A Question, his 2nd release for Western Vinyl, brims with a humorous, neurotic candor only outmatched by a wide and colorful sonic palette. Outside of Market, Mendelsohn has produced and mixed albums by Frankie Cosmos and Dougie Poole, played saxophone on recordings by Yaeji and Lady Lamb, and performed as a multi instrumentalist live in Vagabon and Sam Evian. He is a house engineer at Figure 8 Recording in Prospect Heights, has a studio of his own in Clinton Hill, and is half of Shitty Hits Recording Co, a production team with Katie Von Schleicher.
