Chris Knight returns with Almost Daylight, his ninth album and first new recording in over seven years, produced, mixed, and mastered by Grammy-winner Ray Kennedy. The record pairs the vivid rural characters and hardscrabble survivors that built his reputation as one of America's most uncompromising singer/songwriters with something new: testaments to compassion, redemption, and outright love. It features scorching guitar from Georgia Satellites founder Dan Baird, background vocals from Lee Ann Womack, Chris Clark, and Siobhan Kennedy, his first two cover songs ever (Johnny Cash's "Flesh and Blood" and a raucous duet with John Prine on "Mexican Home"), and standouts like "I'm William Callahan," "Crooked Mile," and the title track. Now the native son of Slaughters, Kentucky is back on the road, bringing these songs to the faithful from Texas honky-tonks to Manhattan rock clubs.
