“Beautiful deep grooves and environmental awareness - music for our times - music to heal and invite introspection…the resultant cross-fertilisation of jazz, classical, and ambient electronic music is fascinating.” John Fenton N.Z.
Pianist and composer Chris Cody and sound artist Charlie Tait met in 2023, forming a friendship and collaboration around their contrasting approaches and styles of music practice. Coming from different backgrounds, cultures and generations, they seek through dialogue and practice-based experimentation to create and perform new music that combines Cody’s jazz and classical influences with Tait’s contemporary electronic music.
Using solo piano improvisations and spontaneous compositions, they reimagine them, adding new sound elements, rearranging motifs, harmonies and rhythms and experimenting with various instruments, effects and sounds.
Together, Cody and Tait create new emotionally charged sonic landscapes that are both lyrical and expansive, evoking a range of emotions and imagined places and moods.
“Enthralling music ... the melodic richness is realised with ever-changing textures… even more notable is the coherence and thoughtfulness of the composing as we journey across this new musical world.” Sydney Morning Herald
