Honors Choirs of SE MN, a youth choral organization of 280+ voices, has been providing artistic challenge, growth, and excellence in choral performance for over 34 years for singers in grades 1-12. The Honors Concert Choir, conducted by Dr. Ryan Deignan, is a 75+ member ensemble of high school singers, selected by audition. Concert Choir rehearses weekly, and performs in several season concerts and on tour to area schools. In addition, the choir takes a post-season tour every third year and have traveled to Czech Republic and Austria, Netherlands and France, Italy, Newfoundland, Sweden, Finland, and Estonia, and Ireland. The Concert Choir has enjoyed many successes in its 34-year history including 1st place at the Vienna Youth and Music Festival, two 2nd place awards at the International Choir Festival in Arnhem, the Netherlands, invitations to perform for the 1999 MN gubernatorial inauguration festivities, conventions of the American Choral Directors Association and Chorus America, and high school choir days at Concordia College (Moorhead, MN), St. Olaf College (Northfield, MN) and Mankato State University (Mankato, MN). Concert Choir was chosen to be included in five different annual Best of High School A Cappella compact discs and performed at New York City’s Lincoln Center in 2013. The choir is accompanied by Sarah Hoffmeister Stender.
