A Farewell in Song: Honoring Bob Simpson, Canon for Music 🎶
After more than three decades of faithful service, our beloved Canon for Music, Bob Simpson, will lead the Cathedral Choir one last time in a special service of Choral Prayer for the Afternoon — a heartfelt farewell from the community he has shaped so profoundly.
This is a rare chance to hear the very music the choir will carry on their upcoming international tour, journeying from St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle to the American Cathedral in Paris, where Bob will lead his final service as Canon for Music — a Eucharist on July 26th. It's a fitting tribute to a ministry that has always reached far beyond these walls.
🥂 Stay for the celebration! Following the service, join us for a festive reception in Reynolds Hall. All are warmly welcome to come, share a glass, and offer Bob your personal thanks.
📅 And there's more: We invite you back the following morning, Sunday, July 12th, for a special reception in Reynolds Hall between the 9am and 11am services, as we celebrate Bob on his very last Sunday at the Cathedral.
Other ways to honor Bob's ministry:
💝 Love Offering — In the tradition of the church, you're invited to make a financial gift in gratitude for a departing minister. Send a check with "Simpson Love Offering" in the memo line, or give online and select "Simpson Love Offering" from the dropdown: https://www.fellowshiponegiving.com/App/Form/560537d8-e55f-435d-b371-0df52a6c69d3
🙏 Prayers — We ask for your prayers for Bob and Marianna as they step into this new season. Even as we grieve the close of this chapter, we send them into retirement with deep gratitude and blessing.
Come lift your voice with ours. We hope to see you there. ❤️
