As we conclude our 50th Anniversary Celebration, the November CHOPIN Salon welcomes Ian Hobson, a top laureate of the very first National Chopin Piano Competition in 1975. He is joined by violinist Andrés Cárdenes, a winner of the 1982 Tchaikovsky International Violin Competition. Their chamber performance promises an afternoon of exceptional artistry, collaboration, and musical excellence.

About Ian Hobson
Ian Hobson, Silver Medalist of the inaugural National Chopin Piano Competition in 1975, is an internationally recognized pianist and conductor. He serves as Guest Conductor of the Sinfonia Varsovia and Music Director of the Sinfonia da Camera. Hobson won First Prize at the Leeds International Piano Competition in 1981 and has performed with leading orchestras including the Chicago Symphony, Philadelphia Orchestra, and the Royal Philharmonic. A graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, Cambridge University, and Yale University, he has released more than 60 recordings.
About Andrés Cárdenes
Andrés Cárdenes, Second Prize winner at the 1982 Tchaikovsky International Violin Competition, has performed as soloist with more than one hundred orchestras worldwide, including Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Los Angeles, Moscow, and Bavarian Radio. A prolific recording artist, his discography spans more than three dozen albums. He is co-founder and Artistic Director of the Josef Gingold Chamber Music Festival and has been violinist of the Díaz Trio since 1995. Cárdenes currently serves as Distinguished Artist-in-Residence at Lynn Conservatory in Boca Raton, Florida, following a 36-year tenure at Carnegie Mellon University.
