About this Event

Chili Queens Forum

Join us for a sizzling event at the AC Hotel by Marriott San Antonio Riverwalk! Get ready to indulge in the fiery flavors of chili and immerse yourself in the rich culinary heritage of San Antonio, TX, USA. At the Chili Queens Forum, you'll have the chance to connect with fellow chili enthusiasts.

At this forum, city leaders, residents, and stakeholders will discuss new ways we can highlight the critical role Chili Queens played in San Antonio and in the History of the United States. The event will begin with an informal discussion at the A/C Marriott Hotel, where panelists will include representatives from the World Heritage Organization San Antonio-City of Gastronomy Initiative, Casa Navarro, the Spanish Governor’s Palace, and more. Afterwards, guests will enjoy a free sample of Frito Pie, provided by 1 Watson rooftop bar overlooking Main Plaza. Beverages will be available for purchase. Tickets to the event are free, but reservations are requested.

The Chili Queens are credited with “inventing” a recipe that is used throughout the United States. But some food historians point to evidence that this recipe might be influenced by either Canary Islanders or Aztecs or both. One thing all can agree on is that these women showed incredible tenacity and enterprise. This festival, scheduled for 2024, seeks to return their place of honor in history.

Special thanks to our corporate partners, A/C Marriott and 1 Watson Rooftop Bar.
