About this Event
Children's Butterfly Walk
Come join Friends of Rouge Park, the Edison Branch of the Detroit Public Library, Detroit Parks Coalition and the Detroit Bird Alliance for a fun-filled adventure at Rouge Park's Prairie Pathway & Butterfly Gardens! This in person event is perfect for kids who love nature and want to learn more about butterflies, pollinators and wildflowers. We will read stories about butterflies, walk through parts of the Butterfly Garden trail together and engage in some hands-on learning activities about butterfly anatomy and wildflowers. Don't miss out on this exciting opportunity to explore and nurture curiosity in Rouge Park's bustling Prairie Pathway!
Accesibility information: We will be walking at a slow pace on level but possibly uneven ground. There are no steps on the trail. Make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and long pants with covered shoes. Since we will be in the prairie, there isn't much shade and there may be mosquitos, ticks and poison ivy. You might consider wearing sunscreen/sunhat and mosquito repellent. The closest bathroom is about a 10 minute walk or 0.5 mile drive away from the site. Free street parking available onsite.
We will meet at 4pm at Rouge Park's Prairie Pathway(North)& Butterfly Garden, 14600-15098 Outer Drive West Detroit, MI 48239.
