About this Event
Prepare for labor, delivery, and life with your newborn in this comprehensive childbirth education class. Expectant parents and support partners will learn what to expect during every stage of labor and delivery, as well as how to prepare both physically and emotionally for birth and postpartum recovery.
Topics include:
- Pre-Labor Signs & Onset of Labor – Recognizing when labor begins and what to expect.
- The Role of the Coach – How partners and support persons can provide effective support throughout labor and birth.
- Non-Interventional Labor Techniques –
- Productive labor positions and movement (birthing ball, peanut ball, dancing, etc.)
- Progressive relaxation, meditation, imagery, and visualization exercises
- Breathing techniques
- Touch and massage for comfort
- Additional comfort tools (lighting, warm baths or showers, hot/cold packs, music, aromatherapy)
- Pain Management Options – Understanding analgesics and epidurals.
- Stages of Labor – Early labor, active labor, transition, and pushing, with comfort options for each.
- Labor Induction – What it is and when it’s recommended.
- Cesarean Birth – What to expect before, during, and after surgery.
- The Benefits of Skin-to-Skin Contact – Promoting bonding and newborn health.
- Postpartum Care – What recovery looks like for new mothers.
- Breastfeeding Basics – Getting started and overcoming common challenges.
- Introduction to Newborns – Understanding newborn behavior and care.
- Hospital Tour – A guided look at the labor and postpartum rooms.
Partner/support people encouraged to attend! Snacks and drinks will be provided!

DO NOT enter though main hospital doors. Instead drive to the back (west side of hospital) and park near this entrance, enter though the annex doors (under covered area).
