Childbirth Education Class: Birth & Beyond
About this Event
Birth & Beyond: Why Physiology Is Our Greatest Ally
Birth is a normal physiological process, but understanding how it works—and how modern maternity care can influence it—can make a big difference in how you approach your birth experience.
Birth & Beyond is a childbirth education class for expectant parents who want to understand their options, ask better questions, and take an active role in planning their birth.
We'll explore the physiology of birth, examine routine interventions and the questions worth asking about them, and discuss how to make informed decisions that align with your needs and preferences.
What we'll cover
- Why understanding birth physiology matters
- How common maternity care practices and interventions can influence the birth process
- Asking questions, evaluating your options, and making informed decisions
- Preparing for birth, postpartum recovery, and breastfeeding
- Taking an active role in planning your birth experience
Who is this class for?
This class is for expectant parents who want more than a checklist of what to pack for the hospital. Whether you're already questioning conventional approaches to maternity care or simply beginning to explore your options, you'll leave with a stronger foundation for making informed choices.
You don't have to have everything figured out before you arrive. Come curious, bring your questions, and leave better equipped to navigate the decisions ahead.
Partners are welcome and encouraged to attend!
Meet Your Educator
I'm Kennie, founder of Autonomous Motherhood. I'm passionate about helping women understand the physiology of birth, explore their options, and feel empowered to make informed decisions throughout pregnancy, birth, and early motherhood.
My approach centers on bodily autonomy, informed consent, and understanding the normal processes of birth so that families can make choices that align with their needs, values, and preferences, instead of just "doing what they're told".

- Wear comfortable clothes. Come as you are and get comfortable!
- Bring water and snacks if you'd like something to sip or munch on during class.
