Child Psychological Maltreatment: Identification, Determination, and System Readiness
About this Event

This workshop is designed to strengthen leadership-level understanding and application readiness for identifying, determining, and responding to child psychological maltreatment (CPM) across child protective services, law enforcement, and social services systems. Participants will examine the forms of psychological maltreatment, the nature of actual and potential harm, and the nexus between caregiver behavior, child experience, and developmental outcomes. The program also seeks to clarify system policies, practices, workforce capacity, and service needs required to support valid, reliable, and effective intervention.

By the conclusion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

· Identify and distinguish core forms of child psychological maltreatment and their defining caregiver behaviors.

· Understand actual and potential harm standards relevant to CPM determinations.

· Analyze the linkage between maltreating behaviors, contextual factors, and child developmental outcomes.

· Examine current policies, practices, and interagency processes that influence CPM identification and response.

· Clarify system-level capacity strengths, gaps, and needs related to workforce expertise, collaboration, and services.
