About this Event

Join us for a an evening of music inspired by the natural world featuring a chamber ensemble of 16 players. Set in the beautiful wooden barn at Green Door Gourmet, the program title comes from John Cage's seminal work featuring amplified plant materials. Viet Cuong's Next Week's Trees for strings is inspired by the poetry of Mary Oliver and is a "a meditation on the persistence of hope in an ever-fragile world", while Akiho's LIgNEouS means, "made, consisting of, or resembling wood" and is a rhythmically persistent dialogue featuring marimba and strings. Additional works evocative of trees include Stravinksy's Dumbarton Oaks and inti figgis-vizueta's fréimhe (root). In true intersection style, beyond the music the evening will feature poetry, interactive sound making, energy work, and on-site partners supporting the tree canopy in Nashville. We're also thankful to Green Door Gourmet, a 350 acre farm and and agritourism destination with an amazing on-farm market, for hosting this event.
