Join Bay Area and Stockton Animal Save for our biweekly chicken vigil at New Stockton Poultry as we bear witness to chickens who are en route to slaughter. We also have an agreement with the slaughterhouse where we are allowed to rescue two chickens at every vigil.
We will be meeting at Eden Gleason Park for the briefing and then going over to the slaughterhouse together.
Masks are mandatory and please be mindful of social distancing. We will be following all state and county COVID guidelines.
About Stockton and Bay Area Animal Save:
We "erect glass walls" at slaughterhouses and encourage people to choose vegan, protect the environment, and support farmed animal sanctuaries. Bay Area and Stockton Animal Save also call foe a just transition for workers as we adjust our food economy to a plant based diet.
About Animal Save Movement:
Animal Save Movement is comprised of groups around the world who bear witness to fishes, chickens, pigs, cows, and other animals en route to slaughter. Our goals are to raise awareness of the plight of farmed animals, to help people become vegan, and to build a mass-based, grassroots animal justice movement.
Animal Save Movement, formerly known as The Save Movement, started in 2010 with the inception of Toronto Pig Save. Today there are over 130 groups in Canada, the U.S., U.K., Ireland, Australia, Continental Europe, Hong Kong, and South America.
Bearing Witness:
Bearing Witness is being present in the face of injustice and trying to help. Leo Tolstoy says we all have a duty to bear witness.
"When the suffering of another creature causes you to feel pain, come closer, as close as you can to him who suffers, and try to help him".
