Chicago Uptown Literary Walking Tour

This three-hour walking tour takes us to the former residences of notable Chicago writers, as well as institutions and streets with literary associations. We’ll learn a bit about authors George R.R. Martin, Margaret Anderson, John D’Emilio, and Studs Terkel, as well as fictional characters Paul Whelan and V.I. Warshawski. Along the way, we’ll visit historic institutions like Preston Bradley Center, Lawrence House, The Aragon Ballroom, Riviera Theater, Green Mill, and Essanay Studio—all which have played a part in Chicago’s literary history. A reading list will be provided well in advance, for those who want to explore this literature more deeply. The tour will begin and end at Margate Park Field House.

The tour is free with a suggested donation of $15.
