The Chicago Jazz Orchestra Summer Residency continues!
The late trumpet legend Clark Terry called Chicago Jazz Orchestra "The best big band in the country."
In August 1979, the ensemble was the opening band on the first night of the First Annual Chicago Jazz Festival. 45 years later, the CJO stands as not only the oldest professional big band in Chicago, but also the second oldest professional civic jazz orchestra in the United States (second only to the Columbus Jazz Orchestra).
Thaddeus Tukes is a vibraphonist, composer, arranger, and bandleader, hailed for bringing “poetry to the vibraphone” (Chicago Tribune). He has released three albums under his own label, Vibetown Studios. He has performed as a bandleader and special guest at the Chicago Jazz Festival, Hyde Park Jazz Festival, with the South Side Jazz Coalition and at jazz clubs, concert halls, and festivals throughout the United States.
