About this Event
Mateus Furtado (Brazil) - An Afternoon with Chopin
Step into the romantic world of Frédéric Chopin during a moving afternoon of music with internationally acclaimed pianist Mateus Furtado. Known for his expressive and refined interpretations, Mateus brings Chopin’s emotionally rich and technically brilliant works to life with depth, grace, and precision.
This program will highlight some of Chopin’s most beloved compositions, including lyrical nocturnes, dazzling études, and dramatic ballades—pieces that continue to captivate audiences nearly two centuries after they were composed.
Mateus Furtado holds a Bachelor’s degree in piano from the University of São Paulo, where he studied with Eduardo Monteiro and Luciana Sayure. In Spring 2024, he earned his Master’s degree in piano performance from the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University, studying under Winston Choi. He is currently pursuing a Performance Diploma at the same institution.
He has performed at prestigious venues across Brazil, Europe, and the United States, and has appeared as a soloist with orchestras such as the Orquestra Jovem de Guarulhos, Orquestra Sinfônica de Campinas, Orquestra Sinfónica de Yucatán, and the CCPA Chamber Orchestra.
A prizewinner of numerous international competitions—including the 1st National Chopin Competition of Brazil—Mateus brings both technical mastery and poetic sensibility to Chopin’s timeless works.
Don’t miss this special opportunity to hear Chopin’s masterpieces performed live by one of today’s most exciting young pianists.
