Chicago Artopia presents An Tran: Ilumina

Guitarist An Tran’s Ilumina illuminates new music, cultural heritage, and collaboration through 12 premieres, virtuosity, and new discovery!
About this Event

An Tran brings a distinctive voice to the classical guitar, bridging classical tradition, cultural heritage, and contemporary music through expressive performances that celebrate connection and collaboration. Inspired by his album Ilumina—meaning “to illuminate”—this program explores music as a source of light, connection, and discovery.

With Ilumina, Tran presents works written especially for him by an international group of composers. Blending intimate lyricism, rhythmic vitality, and folkloric inspiration, the album celebrates the expressive possibilities of the classical guitar and its evolving place in contemporary music.

Through refined virtuosity, rich sensitivity to color, and deeply personal artistry, Tran brings each work vividly to life, inviting audiences to experience the guitar beyond the familiar and discover new possibilities in its sound and expression.

As an artist, curator, and collaborator, Tran champions music that connects cultures, generations, and communities. Ilumina is both a celebration of new voices and a bold statement for the future of the guitar—a musical journey illuminating the stories and connections that bring us together.
