With roots in the 1980s ska/punk scene, the Cherry Poppin’ Daddies were well-positioned for the 1990s swing revival, cementing the sound nationwide with their 1997 album Zoot Suit Riot and its Top 40 title track. Still led by singer-songwriter Steve Perry, the horn-driven, Oregon-based band has built its reputation with a blend of pre-rock musical styles, incisive lyrics and sometimes outrageous stage theatrics. WWII Tiki Xmas Canteen is a holiday production that evokes the atmosphere of a 1940s radio broadcast.
