Cherry Blossom Viewing (Hanami) Picnic & Party

JETAA Scotland are pleased to announce a return to in-person events with this hanami (cherry blossom viewing) picnic at Lauriston Castle's Edinburgh-Kyoto Friendship Garden, co-hosted with the Edinburgh/Glasgow Japanese Language Culture Group.

What? A family-friendly cherry blossom viewing picnic and party followed by optional drinks at a nearby pub.

• In order to keep this event fully COVID-safe, please bring your own food, picnic blanket and snacks.
• This is an alcohol-free event due to Edinburgh City bylaws. Coffee and tea are available at Lauriston Castle Café.

Where? Edinburgh-Kyoto Friendship Garden, Lauriston Castle, followed by drinks at Indigo Yard Pub.

• Lauriston Castle is easily accessible from Waverley Station by via buses 43, 37, 27 or 29
• Free parking available.

When? Saturday 23rd April 2022

• 11am - 3pm cherry blossom viewing party and picnic
• 4pm onwards pub social at Indigo Yard Pub (30 minutes by bus/15 minutes drive from Lauriston Castle)

Who? Former, current and future JETs and their family/friends are welcome. This event co-hosted with the Edinburgh/Glasgow Japanese Language Culture Group whose members will also attend. This is a relaxed, family-friendly event with a maximum of 15-20 people.

• All adults must register for the event via Eventbrite
• Children do not need to register

In case of bad weather, we will visit the National Museum of Scotland's Japanese Collection and eat lunch together in the trendy Bruntsfield area which has a range of options to choose from. We have some reserved seats at a vegan/vegetarian cafe at 12:30 - please email us if you would like to reserve a spot for lunch.
