Chenille Flower

One flower. Two hours. It will still be here in ten years.

Chenille Flower is about making a single thing properly rather than making a lot of things quickly. You work with thick chenille stems, twisting and shaping them petal by petal, building your flower up in layers around a wired stem until it has real depth and fullness. A rose, a sunflower, a tulip, a lily. One flower, made well.

Our instructor takes you through every stage: choosing your bloom and colours, shaping petals that curve naturally rather than sitting flat, layering them so the flower opens the way a real one does, building a leaf and a wired stem that holds its shape, and finishing the whole thing so it looks made rather than assembled.
