Chen Le Presents Double Feature | Open Stage Originals

"Double Feature (2024)" is Chen Le's latest six-movement work written for Peking opera, soprano, violin and piano. Peking vs. western opera, instrumental vs. vocal are Le's intention in writing to impact the audience with a sense of conflict and contrast, featuring dual ensembles from each movement exploring the boundaries of east-west collaborative possibilities within a musical medium. Venue is supported from our newly built Central Art Library open stage, making fine arts musical performance more accessible to the everyday Singaporean.
This project is in collaboration with Ping Sheh's main actor/instructor Roy Ren Wei Chen, SLO-ASEAN Vocal Competition winner Zhang Jie, council member of Composer Association (Singapore, USA) Zhao Lin Yan & local violinist/educator Hu Tao Jia Zi. 
The head of Music from Lasalle College of the Arts, Dr. Timothy O'Dwyer will also join Le on the Sax to improvise for the night!

双重奏（2024）是陈乐为京剧、女高音、小提琴和钢琴创作（词，曲）的六乐章最新作品。作曲家意图通过京剧唱腔与西方歌剧、器乐搭配声乐来以一种冲突和对比交流观众。每个乐章都以重奏的方式呈现音乐媒介，交融和碰撞出无限的可能性和可听性。演出得到了新建的中央艺术图书馆，Open Stage Originals, OPULENT PIANOFORTE 和 Cristofori Music 的支持，旨在让阳春白雪的严肃音乐表演更加贴近普通新加坡人，也想在一定程度上引起大家的思考。演唱方面由新加坡平社的主要演员/导师任伟辰和 SLO-ASEAN 声乐比赛冠军张洁担任。钢琴和小提琴则是由新加坡、美国作曲家协会理事赵凌燕，本地小提琴导师和演奏家胡桃佳子以及钢琴作曲家本人担纲。此外，特邀嘉宾LASALLE College of the Arts的音乐系主任Timothy O'Dwyer博士也将为这个夜晚演奏萨克斯。
