Join Sierra Club and the Chelsea (Norfolk) business community in celebration of offshore wind! We’ll celebrate the 1st milestone for VA offshore wind. Construction of the Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind - the largest offshore wind farm in the US - has started! CVOW will produce 2.6 gigawatts of electricity - enough clean energy to power up to 660,000 homes and avoid as much as 5 million tons of carbon emissions annually. 10am - 12pm Open House at Fairwinds Landing office, 1222 Olney Rd. - Exhibits and representatives from Fairwinds Landing, Dominion Energy, Port of Virginia, and Sierra Club.
10am - 12pm Kids Activities, lawn area behind DogTown, next to Torch at intersection of Boissevain and Orapax - Kite flying, activities & giveaways
12pm-1pm Walk & Talk Offshore Wind - Gather at the Chelsea trailhead of the Elizabeth River Trail, walk 1/2 mile along the trail to the City's Plum Point Park to view and talk about the offshore wind activity across the river at the Portsmouth Marine Terminal.
1pm-3pm Party at Smartmouth Brewing, 1309 Raleigh Ave. - Live Music featuring The Hookz, Food Trucks, Speakers including Norfolk Mayor Kenny Alexander and others, Informational Exhibits including Centura College and others.
