Then we have Trinklied by Franz Schubert, one from 1813 and another from 1815; the German translating to—yup—Drinking Song. There’s the Student Chorus from the opera The Tales of Hoffmann by Jacques Offenbach; that one happens to be about drinking. Additionally, In taberna quando sumus by Carl Orff from the cantata Carmina Burana; the Medieval Latin translating to When we are in the tavern. Oui, let’s not forget Chanson à Boire by Francis Poulenc, the French of which translates to . . . wait for it . . . Drinking Song.
