This intimate Red Carpet Preview Evening celebrates the lived Black Expat experience in Panamá and honors the people who dared to move differently, build intentionally, and live their stories out loud.

The Courage to Leap Award
Presented to an individual who demonstrated extraordinary courage in choosing a life abroad—embracing uncertainty, growth, and transformation. This award celebrates boldness, resilience, and the willingness to step into the unknown.
The Bridge Builder Award
Recognizes a Black Expat who actively connects cultures, communities, and people—serving as a bridge between Panamá and the global African diaspora through collaboration, service, or leadership.
The Community Pillar Award
Honors someone whose consistent presence, support, and service have strengthened the Black Expat community. This award celebrates those who uplift others quietly and faithfully, often without seeking recognition.
The Cultural Preservation Award
Awarded to an individual who intentionally honors, preserves, and amplifies African and Afro-diasporic culture while living abroad—through storytelling, education, art, or advocacy.
The Entrepreneur Abroad Award
Recognizes a Black Expat who has built or grown a business abroad that reflects innovation, excellence, and integrity—while contributing positively to both the local and global community.
The Creative Voice Award
Celebrates a storyteller, artist, media creator, or cultural worker whose creative work amplifies Black Expat narratives and reshapes how the world sees Black life abroad.
The CHarriet Award (Signature Honor)
The evening’s highest honor, awarded to an individual whose life and journey embody the spirit of CHarriet—movement, courage, freedom, and legacy. This award represents the heart of the documentary and the BEIP mission.
CHarriet is more than a film—it’s a legacy story about movement, choice, and what we leave behind for the generations watching.
