Child caseworker Cameron Springer and John Quint, her supervisor, have none of the high-class glitz and glamour of your typical storybook heroes, but when they are assigned three tricky cases involving children in possible danger, they go to extreme lengths to make sense of the murky circumstances and shady characters surrounding these fragile families.

Charlie Ketchey

Charlie was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and early on raised in Tampa, Florida. He graduated from Plant High School in Tampa, and from the Wharton School of Finance and Commerce at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Afterwards, he moved back to Tampa and married Brenda Williams. They were close friends in high school They moved to Nashville where Charlie attended law school at Vanderbilt University. He and Brenda then moved back to Tampa, where he has since practiced corporate and bankruptcy litigation and trial law. He now works at the firm of Trenam Law in its Tampa office. Charlie was involved throughout his career with nonprofit organizations dealing with children issues, particularly children at-risk. He served on the board of Big Brothers in Tampa for a number of years He had a “little” brother he mentored. He was on the board of the Conn Foundation dedicated to the development of children both emotionally and academically. His role as a volunteer founder, director and officer of a nonprofit agency for the care of at-risk children and their families, as well as pro bono litigation attorney on occasion, led him to write the novel “Under Their Watch.” With the knowledge and experience gained, he felt a fictionalized, suspenseful novel would provide an effective vehicle to open windows to the reality and often times heroism of caseworkers dedicated to at-risk families and their children. “Under Their Watch” was published by River Grove Books, an imprint of Greenleaf Book Group, in December, 2024.
