Join Layton Register and Tyler Friedman of Walk & Talk Charleston on a 2-hour guided walking tour exploring how people have moved around Charleston. Transportation in Charleston initially developed with pedestrians and horses in mind. Then came the building of the Standard Oil gas station at the corner of Meeting and Chalmers, and with it, mobility planning in Charleston changed. Our tour will be an opportunity to walk and talk around the old part of Charleston and see how the automobile became the priority for the development of Charleston, dividing the community in multiple ways.
This is a custom tour created by Walk & Talk Charleston, specifically for Charleston Moves' Mobility Month 2024 program. Your ticket includes a tip for the guides, as well as a donation to Charleston Moves. Please consider adding a donation onto your ticket purchase to further support Charleston Moves' advocacy and programming.
